Friday update - volunteers for A & B meets & Cracker Jack meet info

Hello dive families,

Some important information in this email about the Cracker Jack meet on Sunday, July 17, so please read the entire email.

We are hosting two meets at Cardinal Hill next week. For the A meet on Tuesday (7/12), I still need one judge and one announcer. For the B meet, we still have a lot of slots open, so please sign up as soon as you can so I know that we are covered.

UPCOMING: Cracker Jack Developmental Championship Meet at Ravensworth Farm pool on Sunday, July 17.

The Cracker Jack meet is the largest developmental dive meet in the country, usually drawing over 500 divers!  New and beginning divers from all 8 NVSL Dive Divisions will compete by age. The top 6 finishers in each category will win a medal, ribbons for 7th place and above, and everyone gets a box of Cracker Jack :) The dive meet is divided by specific age (6under, 7yo, 8yo, etc). If your diver will be in the NVSL Divisionals meet, they cannot be in the Cracker Jack meet. Please ask a coach if you are unsure of your diver's status for these meets.

This is an all day meet with a schedule that can be in a bit of flux depending on weather, how long each event takes, etc., so while you will be given a general idea of what time your diver will compete, you need to be flexible.  Our coaches do their best to keep everyone updated, but as you can imagine, they are super busy at this meet as well.

Any team that sends divers to the meet, must also send volunteers.  We are responsible for 4 volunteers if we send divers (two judges and two table workers).  If your child is participating in the meet, you are assumed to be offering up your services as a volunteer. I will not be at this meet and will not be able to cover for you, so please think through your availability before you sign up.

I have to submit the names of the parents and their preferences to the meet coordinators and they will post a volunteer schedule based on their needs and your availability (as late as 7:30am the morning of the meet). You can email me your preference on time of day that you are available and what age group you prefer to work.  Unlike other meets where you work the entire meet, for this meet you just work one round (6under boys and girls ONLY), for example.  I do not yet have a confirmed schedule, but it looks like the 6under girls and the 10 yo girls start at 8am and the last set of divers start at around 2pm. They've estimated that each group will take about 50-60 minutes to get through, so if you're volunteering for 6unders boys + girls, you would be there working from 8-10am.

Please email me ASAP if your diver would like to participate in this meet and let me know your volunteering time/age group preferences for that day.  The coaches will work on filling out the dive sheets.  We have to have these submitted by Wednesday, July 13. No late/same day entries are allowed.

Thanks everyone,

Megan
