Dive Week #2 Newsletter - important dates & sign-ups

Happy Friday! I hope everyone enjoyed their second week of the dive season.

I will send out emails every Friday about the upcoming week, so please make sure to read them for important information.

A reminder that starting on Monday (June 13th), dive practice moves to mornings:

8 and under: 8:15-9:15

13 and older: 9:15-10:15

9-12yo: 10:15-11:15

It can be a little chilly in the morning, especially at the beginning of summer, so please send extra towels with your diver.

*Wednesday Nights, starting June 15, are Dinner & Dive! Divers may attend an optional afternoon practice from 5pm-6:30pm. This practice is generally referred to as "Learn a New Dive Night". Divers are encouraged to work on a new skill- can be as simple as a front dive for our newest divers, to a reverse 1 somersault for our more experienced divers. Practice is followed by a team potluck in the Cabana from 6:30-8pm. The team will order from a local take-out venue and registered participants will pay $7 per head for the entrĂ©e (Popeyes, Chick fil A, Mookies BBQ, etc). Then all guests will bring a side to share (fruits, salads, desserts). Team provides beverages. (You do not need to RSVP if you are just coming the the practice.) Sign up for the dinner and potluck here:

Our first meet of the season will be on Thursday, June 16th.  This is our annual Cardinal Hill Boys vs. Girls meet.  All team members are welcome to participate.  It is also a fantastic opportunity for all of the parent volunteers to learn or get refreshers on meet jobs.  We still need judges for this meet!!!  If you are brand new to judging, or even if you're not, we are going to have two of our experienced judges lead our volunteers through a more detailed explanation of the judging role before the Boys vs. Girls meet (probably during warm-ups, more details soon).  This is the perfect low pressure meet to learn on the job.  We'll make sure you're seated with an experienced judge who can walk you through it - it really isn't hard and is a lot of fun, so please give it a try!

One more note on volunteering (for now), our current social chair, Kate Beck, has indicted her willingness to train and eventually take over the Meet Manager role.  This is fantastic, but it does mean that we will need someone to step up to be in charge of the social side of things.  Currently, Kate coordinates all social volunteers, gives instructions for their duties, makes sure we have enough candy for fun dive practice days, orders supplies for meet nachos, and various other tasks related to social events.  If you are interested in this role (which fulfills all volunteer obligations) please email me. Kate will happily train anyone who is interested.  If you have any questions about the tasks, please reach out to Kate: [email protected].

Have a great weekend!

Megan
