Welcome, Weather, Team Sign-ups, & Practice Note
Welcome to the 2021 Dive Season! As a reminder, our first practice is scheduled for this upcoming Wednesday, June 2nd. Your diver will choose one practice to attend; either 4pm-5pm or 5pm-6pm. This week's practices will be held on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoon, weather permitting.
I will be out of town next week, and won't be able to provide weather updates. A few notes about weather:
-If water temps are below 70 degrees, we will hold dry land practice on the grass near the snack bar. Wear active clothing (shorts/t-shirt) or swim suits.
-If it is raining, we will hold practice as long as the pool is open. Pool closes when rain becomes so heavy that it affects lifeguard visibility. Coaches may also cancel practices if they feel the boards have become too slippery to dive safely.
-Thunder and lightening will close the pool. Generally, if there is thunder or lightening during your practice slot, your practice for the day will be cancelled. Later practices will resume if weather improves.
-Coaches will post practice cancellations due to weather on Twitter. You can follow our account: @chsrdive . Team Rep (me) will try to send out an email via Swimtopia for weather issues. Remember stormy weather can spring up on us. We do our best to alert team members about weather issues ASAP.
Event and volunteer sign-ups will be open as of June 1st. Our team cannot operate without parent volunteers. I know we have many new families this season. We have several social jobs that require no experience. We will also be hosting a Boys vs Girls Meet at the beginning of the season. This is a wonderful opportunity for new families to try their hand at one of our meet jobs in a very low key environment. For our experienced families, please look to see how you can help at the A Meets.
Our first event is our Team Ice Cream Social on Monday, June 7th from 6-6:30pm. Please RSVP so that we have ice cream for all (include siblings and parents who are planning to eat ice cream in your head count). This is also a great volunteer opportunity- need someone to pick-up ice cream supplies and help me scoop.
And finally, a note about morning practice times... Swim Team just released their schedule, and their practice slot for 9-12 year old swimmers conflicts with our 11-12 year old diver practice time. If you have an 11-12 year old diver who is on swim team, they can attend the 9am dive practice. Please let me know if your 11-12 diver is also on swim team and will be switching to the 9am practice. Thank you!
